What has COVID-19 taught us about the physiology of poverty and inequality?

Why do the poor and disadvantaged in many countries have worse outcomes when they are infected with the coronavirus than those of higher social or economic status? What has the pandemic taught us about the role of discrimination and inequality in determining health outcomes?

This briefing will include experts on physiology and the social and economic determinants of health. It is the first in a series on “Learning from the Pandemic,” jointly presented by the National Press Foundation and the Association of Foreign Press Correspondents (AFC-USA). This is an educational program for U.S. journalists and foreign correspondents based in the United States.
