The Association of Foreign Press Correspondents in the USA (AFPC-USA) is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization committed to pursuing its mission by:
Educational programs such as workshops, interview sessions, and seminars, whether in person or virtually, are designed to provide foreign journalists with a wide range of knowledge from experts in their respective fields and that assist international journalists in advancing their reporting skills, acquiring knowledge in areas relevant to their reporting and work as foreign correspondents, and providing them with the expertise necessary to inform their international audiences with accuracy, fairness, and competence.
Journalism Resources created, developed, and published by the Foreign Press Correspondents' online platforms are intended to enhance, strengthen, and advance the role of foreign journalists and correspondents by providing them with tools and training to enhance their work and pursue their reporting effectively; keeping international correspondents informed of violations of press freedom around the world via press freedom reports; offering international correspondents valuable information from experts through interviews, objective reporting, and insightful commentary; allowing foreign correspondents to showcase and feature their career accomplishments before international audiences, and raising awareness about the role of foreign correspondents and journalism.
Scholarships for foreign correspondents who have a demonstrated career background as foreign journalists in their respective countries and who are pursuing Master's studies in the United States at any U.S.-based academic institution in fields related to their reporting to help them expand their knowledge and skills through academia and professional journalism education in the United States.
Prizes for Professional Excellence to encourage excellence in journalism for foreign correspondents who, through their reporting for international media, set the highest standards in exceptional published reporting in the following respective fields: Health Care and Technology; Environment and Climate Change; Minorities, Inequality, and Discrimination; Business and Economics; International/National Politics; Misinformation and Disinformation, and Arts and Entertainment
The Press Freedom Forum promotes the creation of synergies to enable key players in the public sphere to work together to secure the safety and protection of journalists; to mobilize and inform the public about the role of the press as the cornerstone of our democracies. The Press Freedom Forum and its activities unite media, civic organizations, private sector stakeholders, and public sector representatives in a sustained effort to promote press freedom, champion free expression, and advocate for the protections of journalists who are at risk.
The Foreign Press Awards raise awareness about the importance of the role foreign correspondents play by honoring individuals who, through their lifetime accomplishments in the public sphere, have contributed to the cause of advancing awareness, exemplifying exceptional work and fostering respect for the work of journalists in the United States and globally as an integral part of our democracies
The AFPC-USA is committed to a stable and robust collaboration with the Foreign Press Centers of the State Department in the U.S. The U.S. Department of State maintains two Foreign Press Centers in New York and Washington, D.C., to engage with foreign media to deepen their understanding of U.S. policy and American values. The Club of the Association of Foreign Press Correspondents in the United States (Club of the AFPC-USA), organized as a not-for-profit corporation under Section 402 of the Not-For-Profit Corporation Law, is a membership organization dedicated to advancing the professional status and broadening career opportunities of foreign correspondents in the U.S. by:
Undertaking networking initiatives to help foreign journalists expand their professional network, engage with other professional foreign correspondents, and boost the dialogue and exchange of views inside the foreign correspondents' community.
Providing career advice to foreign correspondents working and living in the United States on how to successfully deal with new professional challenges in the U.S. or their countries of origin.
Enhancing the collaboration with other Clubs representing foreign journalists around the world, thus pursuing the exchange of experience and expertise with them.
