The Association of Foreign Press Correspondents (AFC-USA) as a strategic partner of the Meridian Global Journalism Initiative invites you to "Press Freedom as National and Global Security Priority" featuring Ned Price, Spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State, and Emily Horne, Spokesperson and Senior Director for Press at the National Security Council.

They will discuss the challenges facing freedom of the press around the world and what actions the Biden administration can take to advance the values of transparency, democracy, and freedom of speech in journalism. James Bennet, Visiting Senior Editor of The Economist, will moderate the conversation on the importance of information access as a public good and how to balance national security and diplomatic concerns with American values of freedom of the press and expression.

Furthermore, this discussion will explore the role of bipartisan media coverage within the U.S. and how it reflects the Biden administration’s foreign policy and security agenda.
